Vintage Sexism in a new avatar

I do not know where this piece first appeared. They say it was a 1950s issue of Good HouseKeeping,. But of course these values are alive and very well in my country of origin. A Leading English Daily published a piece, which has been discussed over the Indian Blogosphere. Here, here, here, here and here . EDIT: Here too

Clearly enough it is not the reading public that wants bilge passed off as good sage advice.
The media however continues to pander to the myth of "family values" which as one can see are neither about family nor particularly value- adding.
And in the 21st century we pass them off as "our culture" and create our misogynistic ghettos in all parts of the world, even as we regress further into our hell-holes.

I won't even bother to offer to make light of the "advice". I feel much too upset to do so.

"Don't ask him questions about his actions or question his judgment or integrity. Remember he is the master of the house and as such will always exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to question him!" I just watched Clara being sent to early grave in 'David Copperfield' on History Channel this weekend. Authors were writing stuff that disagreed with this even that long back!
What are these guys thinking when they write such things? They beat our politicians at hypocrisy and double standards!
"Remember his topics of conversation are more important than yours."
"A good wife always knows her place." Mr Dave will love this one the best :)He can use them in his next counseling session.
