'Twas the ungodly hour of nine
When the cell phone began to chime
Discordant break in my reverie
"Tis time for work, wake up dearie"
Good sense prevailed to me then
Asked the time "Quarter to ten"
God bless! I was running late
"Early for lunch" Boss'd berate
Shower, breakfast, dress and hurry out
What is wrong, no one seems about!
I know about early morning winter chill
But no reason why all is still!
The nicest parking spot is free
Like the best things in life, I can see
A wonderful day, I will win
Even the boss does not seem to be in!
The janitor's late, the lights are off
No one is punctual here, this MUST stop!
Maintenance has been overdue long
The time on the PC's clock is wrong!
"Working hard, I see" Boss saunters in
Will "You are late", get under his skin?
"I only thought you worked here late
Now you may attend tomorrow's meeting at AM eight"
And so I ask him :"What is the time"
"Still only forty five after nine!"
I bite back " I thought 'twas after ten"
He would have me certified then!
Head reeling, I need my caffeine
To wake and work, strange day its been
Will and does get worse, I can feel
When I eat an-hour early meal!
A serious talk is needed with my girlie
Why on earth'd she wake me up early?
Which wrong avenged she this morn
From sound slumber I was rudely torn.
Leave work, an hour more at hand
What will I do, cannot understand
This life unreal, borders on absurd
Because my girl's an early bird.
