While the Owl and the Pussy-cat downed mince and slices of quince with their runcible spoon on their wedding feast, the Old Persons had a rather interesting time. The young ladies, though were a different story all together. Dressing in sacks, with unusual looks, avoiding being incinerated by close family members , yet retaining their tied shoe laces, with bonnets that usually attracted the birds- they exhibited courage, managed to be charming, amusing and even incongruous at times.
The old persons amused themselves in a variety of ways. When various creatures were not finding homes in their beards or heads, they were sitting in strange places like tree tops. Sometimes they complained about their situations. They ranged in emotion from foolish to idiotic, melancholy to depressed to even morbid. They engaged in novel home remedies- eating cake to stay awake, or using hatchets to scratch itches. Their children led them to much grief at times- marrying thieves or eating too much. And they ranged from all over the globe, Corfu to Calcutta, Dundee to Westchester.
