Walk a while in my shoes
Not the comfortable flats
But the stilettos
Thin straps wrapped around the foot.
Straps that cut into into the flesh
If I wear these too long.
Gracefully arching my toes,
Pushing up my calves
And all the way up my back
Makin their presence felt.
Walk a while in these lovelies
Placing one careful foot after another
Small mincing steps
Trying not to put too much pressure on the heel
If it breaks, there’s a problem
Saunter down the street
Deftly avoiding the potholes
And bumps
Holding a bag or two
And try to hurry through the rain
And then try to be called a slowpoke.
