Jai Hind- Patrotic Hindi Songs

As a child August for me meant the beginning of the patriotic song practice- something that reached a crescendo once the 15ht arrived. The songs were resurrected in late July early August, then buried again, to be revived the next year.... Somehow after school that era passed- but thanks to You Tube and Google here they are back again.

Aye Mere wata ke logon- Lata MAngeshkar
Be it Kargil of the Indo-Chinese war or just anything.. this song is the epitome of tribute to brave soldiers...
Why do we forget, "Na koi Sikh, jaata, Maratha, na Gurkha , na Madrasi... "?

Mile sur mera tumhara
A beautiful mulilingual piece- 14 languages, different singers...

Saare Jahaan Se Achha
What else. Of course it was written by Iqbal, but it is the best song ever

Mera Karma tu... Karma
We performed it live on parents day one year- I played the bongo....

Vande Matram- A R Rehman
Who else, what else?

Vande Mataram- the original( Anand Math)
THe one which started it all.

Aye mere pyaare watan- KabuliWaala
Homesickness, love for the land- evocative, beautiful

Aao Bachcon Tumhein Dikhayein- Jagriti
History and georgraphy lesson rolled into a catchy little piece.

Hum Laaye hain toofan se- Jagriti
There is something about this song...

De di Humein Azaadi- Jagriti
No better tribute to Gandhi have I ever found. Nor a truer.

Mere Desh ki Dharti- Upkar
And how cna this be far behind- a little excessive, but hey its patriotic!

Jis Desh mein Ganga Behti hai...
Can we omit Raj Kapoor histronics?
